Petrol Bike to Electric Conversion

Three conversion builds

Every build starts from the same CD125 petrol motorcycle. What changes is the motor position, the controller current and the battery chemistry.

Lead-acid edition

CD125

The entry-level conversion. The original CD125 frame, forks, 17-inch wheels and drum brakes are kept, and the petrol engine is replaced by a 3000W spoke hub motor fed by a 72V 40Ah lead-acid pack.

Lithium-ion edition

CD125

The same 3000W CD125 platform with a 72V 40Ah lithium-ion pack instead of lead-acid. A lighter pack with a longer service life, the same 80A controller and the same 80 km/h top speed.

Mid-drive edition

Africa NO.1

The performance build. A 3000-6000W mid-drive motor and a 100A controller lift the top speed to 100 km/h, with 18-inch wheels, front and rear disc brakes and a 72V 40Ah lithium-ion battery.

How the conversion works

A conversion keeps the motorcycle your workshop already knows and changes only the drivetrain.

Keep the rolling chassis

Frame, forks, swingarm, wheels and brakes stay as they are, so the bike keeps the geometry and spare parts availability of the original CD125.
Swap the engine for a motor

The petrol engine is removed and replaced with a spoke hub motor or a mid-drive motor, matched to the controller rating in the table above.
Add the battery and controls

A 72V 40Ah pack, controller, throttle and display are fitted into the frame, with lead-acid and lithium-ion options for the same CD125 platform.
